<p class="Stile26"> I poriferi o spugne sono organismi filtratori  caratterizzati dalla presenza di canere camere acquifere interne tappezzate da <span style="text-decoration: underline;">coanociti</span> (<strong>cellule flagellate con colletto</strong>).<br />
Le spugne somo organismo sessili, costituiti da  strati di cellule simili a tessuti, chedelimitano canali attraverso i quali circola l’acqua. L’acqua e le particelle  in sospensione sono convogliate all’interno  della spugna attraverso numerosissimi pori presenti nella parete del corpo (<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">pori inalanti</span> o <span style="text-decoration: underline;">ostii</span></strong>), perazione del battitto dei flagelli sui coanociti.<br />
In seguito l’acqua circola attraverso la spugna, dove le particelle in sospensione vengono catturate dai coanociti, quindi fuoriesce attraverso aperture più grandi dette<strong> <span style="text-decoration: underline;">osculi</span></strong>.<br />
Le spugne differiscono dalla maggior parte degli invertebrati in quanto possiedono un endoscheletro costituito da spicole silicee, carbonatiche o di spongina (proteina fibrosa elastica). La loro classificazione è basata  sulla natura chimica  e la forma dello scheletro interno.</p>

<li>Classe Hyalospongiae (spugne vitree) presentano spicole silicee:</li>
<li>Classe Sclerospongiae (spugne coralline) presentano spicole miste</li>
<li>Classe Demospongiae (spugne cornee) presentano endoscheletro di spongina.</li>
