Poesia dedicata al Tarsio, un piccolo animale che si salva perchè “inutile”

Tarsio

Io, tarsio, figlio di tarsio,
nipote e pronipote di tarsio,
piccola bestiola, fatta di due pupille
e d’un resto di stretta necessita’;
scampato per miracolo ad altre trasformazioni,
perche’ come leccornia non valgo niente,
per i colli di pelliccia ce n’e’ di piu’ grandi,
le mie ghiandole non portano fortuna,
i concerti si tengono senza le mie budella;
io, tarsio,
siedo vivo sul dito d’un uomo.

  • Bee and wild flower biodiversity loss slows
    Declines in the biodiversity of pollinating insects and wild plants have slowed in recent years, according to a new study. Researchers found evidence of dramatic reductions in the diversity of species in Britain, Belgium and the Netherlands between the 1950s and 1980s. But the picture brightened markedly after 1990, with a slowdown in local and national biod […]
  • Drought makes Borneo's trees flower at the same time
    Tropical plants flower at supra-annual irregular intervals. In addition, mass flowering is typical for the tropical forests in Borneo and elsewhere, where hundreds of different plant timber species from the Dipterocarpaceae family flower synchronously. This phenomenon is all the more puzzling because both temperature and day length are relatively constant al […]
  • Polymer breakthrough inspired by trees and ancient celtic knots
    A new slow-motion method of controlling the synthesis of polymers, which takes inspiration from both trees and Celtic knots, opens up new possibilities in areas including medical devices, drug delivery, elastics and adhesives. […]
  • Lost in translocation? How bird song could help save species
    Translocation -- or moving animals to safer places -- is a vital tool for saving species from extinction. Many factors influence the success of these new populations, including habitat quality, predators, capture and release techniques, the number and sex of individuals, and their genetic diversity. Now new research, the first of its kind suggests bird song […]
  • Study reveals how fishing gear can cause slow death of whales
    Using a "patient monitoring" device attached to a whale entangled in fishing gear, scientists showed for the first time how fishing lines changed a whale's diving and swimming behavior. The monitoring revealed how fishing gear hinders whales' ability to eat and migrate, depletes their energy as they drag gear for months or years, and can […]
